Fall Show season
Several Shows coming up, don't know that I'll get entries to all of them. Open Space at Minnetrista, The Annual at the Richmond Art Museum and the Whitewater Annual at IUEast.
maybe I've just been out of it and this goes on everywhere. but last night I happened to be in the parking lot of a high school in New Castle, IN and the students paint their spaces.

A very good analysis of the National Endowment for the Arts over the past few decades, and the possible direction that it may take under the chairman-designate, Rocco Landesman. Funding is reaching levels last seen in the 1990's, before the "culture wars" took over and the righteous right found arts and cultural activities to be sitting ducks for potshots.

Art on The Levee Gallery moves
The Art on The Levee Gallery is now located on the second level of Newport on the Levee in Newport, KY. It is now actually in the shopping mall area of the complex, go through the doors from the plaza by Barnes and Noble and it's straight ahead.

Is this a good thing for the arts? Only time will tell. The statement, “Rocco is bored,” Mr. Brustein said, “if things just go routinely.”gives me pause. Sometimes there is a valid use for structure.

First Fridays
First Fridays continue at the Pendleton Art Center in Rising Sun, IN and downtown Vevay, IN. Just follow the Ohio River Scenic Byway to visit all the hotspots this winter.

Gail had work exhibited at the Celebration of Nature show at Eagle Creek Reservoir in December. Next show will be the Minnetrista Annual 2009.
Show Results
JD received a Judges Award in the IWA show, Gail a purchase award from the Open Space Show. Gail has had one piece accepted into the Whitewater Valley Annual in Richmond, IN- opening Nov 5.
Shows in September
JD is showing with the Indiana Wildlife Artists at the Huntington Center in Wabash, IN.
Gail has two pieces in the Open Space show, opening this weekend, Sept 20, at Minnetrista Cultural Center in Muncie, IN.
A Big Weekend
The weekend of Feb 16 is the opening of two shows where my work will be shown. The Minnetrista Annual show in Muncie, Indiana; and the Nature Show at Cool Creek Nature Center, Carmel, Indiana.
Studio 4
November 2nd will be First Friday starting at 5 PM. The emphasis to be on small work suitable for gift giving. J.D.'s greeting cards will be moved to the studio for the month. Which will free up a little space in Words and Images in Metamora.
Mike and Molly have some great new pieces of fused glass that will be available for purchase for the first time this Friday.
Speaking of Metamora, Walnut Creek is closing their shop in town so Jim's work is going to be moving. My paintings are still hanging at Pappy's Pizza in the middle of town.
